123 Blast Off!!!!
Hello Lovely People!
I'm in London finally! After a 10 and 1/2 hour flight from LAX, I arrived to Heathrow airport in one piece.
It's been dark and rainy most of the time, but the sun does manage to peak through the clouds just when you least expect it to. I'm hoping the weather will get better because it makes gigging a lot easier.
I played my first solo acoustic gig last Sunday at a little pub in Chelsea called the Cooper's Arms. I played as part of a singer songwriter's showcase. The pub had a small crowd so I wasn't nervous when I performed. If you are wondering what a Cooper is, check out wikipedia, you'll find out that it's someone who makes staved vessels.

On Wednesday I played my second gig at the Library Bar in Islington! It was great to see so many familiar faces! My cousin Ivor took some pictures of the gig! :-)

I'm getting more and more gigs so I will be updating the website often. If you are in London or in LA don't forget to check back to see what I'm up to! It looks like this "mini tour" that was planning in April is working out!
Peace,
Katie
Summer in London
I'm kind of sad that I just played my last gig here in LA, but I'm excited to be going to London this summer. I will be recording some new songs and playing shows so be sure to check to website to read news about my travels and gigs.
I just wanted to thank all the musicians for that I've worked with in LA for being so committed to playing gigs with me. Alex Fank, Joey Crisci, Alex Feder, Francis Galluppi, and Sam Eliopoulos, thank you so much! I couldn't have done all these shows without you.
I've accomplished a lot these past 5 months. After releasing the EP I played 13 shows with a full band, sold over a hundred copies of my EP, put up my own website, played on the radio, and played at two prestigious venues: The House of Blues, and the Lighthouse Cafe.
I hope that I will return from London feeling refreshed, inspired, and with new music to share to the world!
Until then, lots of Love! I will miss you

Lighthouse Cafe
Hey Everyone!
Here are some photos of my last gig in LA at the historic Lighthouse Cafe in Hermosa Beach. It was a pleasure to play at the Survive benefit event (which I heard was a big success) and I wish Joshua Streeter good luck with his documentary! Thanks for showing your support! :-) And thank you again Joey Crisci and Sotoris Eliopoulos for your musicianship!

Disc Makers Magazine
Today when I got home from work I found a Disc Makers magazine waiting for me on my dining room table. When I looked at it, my CD cover was on the front page along with some other featured artists! I'm very happy about this because it means that they are impressed with the design. Big snaps go to Britta Von Basedow and Ian Hyde! I went with Disc Makers for the CD manufacturing of my EP When Love's Not Around.

Interview with Soul Cole on 99.3 KCLA FM
Hey Everyone!
I finally got my interview on 99.3 KCLA FM to load onto sound cloud! I uploaded it to facebook about a week ago, but if you haven't checked it out yet you can listen to Part 1 and Part 2 here. :-)
Rhino Records Gig
Here is a video of one of the songs I did at Rhino Records in Claremont with Joey Crisci (bass) and my new drummer Francis Gallupi! It's called "Save me" by singer songwriter Aimee Mann. I found out about her music as I was watching an episode of Portlandia. If you haven't watched this show before, you should because it's really funny! Check out the song dream of the 90's. Portland looks like a beautiful city to live in...it's green, it's cool, everyone rides bicycles, people support local farmers, artists roam the streets...it really is the dream of the 90's! This is one of the spots I would love to visit...maybe next year when I go on tour!
Playing at Rhino Records was a blast, but getting to the gig was a nightmare! It was pouring rain outside! Things still turned out pretty well regardless of the weather...The event was hosted by the Claremont College's radio station 88.7FM KSPC so I got to reunite with some old friends from Pitzer College. What's really great is that my CD's are being sold by the shop now! So if you would like a physical copy of my latest EP, you can find it in Rhino Records. :-)
Next week I am going on 99.3 KCLA FM in Hollywood for an exclusive interview with Soul Cole! Tune in if you can, I will also be putting up the recording shortly after.
Joni Mitchell Gig at the Coffee Gallery
Here is a snippet of one of the songs I played at my Joni Mitchell Tribute show at the Coffee Gallery Backstage in Pasadena. I opened for Daylight Again, a tribute band to Crosby, Stills and Nash. You can find out more about the band's members at www.legendsofthecanyon.net. I hope to play another Joni Mitchell gig in the future! I don't usually play covers, but it was a nice change from my own music.
The hardest part about learning Joni's songs is remembering all the lyrics! She was quite the wordy bird. For this gig, I did everything in DADF#AD, except for "A Case of You", which I played in open tuning. I like learning Joni's song's because I am more familiar with the different tunings...in fact I find them easier to play than standard tuning. All you have to do is bar one the frets on the guitar and it sounds amazing.
Cindy Melendrez has posted some more videos of this gig up on youtube! Please check them out if you haven't done so already. :-)
House of Blues Show
Hi Everyone!
So it's been a while since I've made a blog entry! I just wanted to share some video that was taken at the House of Blues show and well as my thoughts and feelings about the performance! I will be posting more clips on my youtube channel but for now I have 3 songs up for your enjoyment 2 of which were recorded by my mom. This first song is a live version of Click of the Clock from my EP When Love's Not Around.
Thank you all who came to the show! I am just amazed at how well everything turned out considering the circumstances. I was worried for a bit because my show was moved from the 24th to the 26th and then I had to solve the problem of finding a drum kit for Alex my drummer! Luckily Bob Saldana saved the day and lent me his kit for the show, which I am very thankful for. Coordinating rehearsals with the musicians was hard work--not to mention getting fliers and posters printed. Getting to the HOB was also a nightmare because it was the night of the Oscars, so I didn't know where to park! I was worried about playing on time, having enough time to set up and greet everyone who came. In the end it worked out great, and I couldn't have done it without the support of my musicians Alex Fank, Alex Feder and Joey Crisci!
I still have a few HOB posters left. If anyone would like one just send me an email! :-) In the meantime I am excited for my upcoming shows this month! I will be playing at Rhino records in Claremont and on KCLA 99.3 FM.
My HOB show was the last big show of the month with my drummer Alex Fank. He is now in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I will miss him and his funny jokes! I will be doing fewer shows this month with the band since I did so many in February. I was feeling a bit exhausted, but with this free time I can now practice some covers and start my video logs!
So stay tuned for more blog posts! I will also be posting things on facebook.

Hey everyone!

Lot 1 Cafe Video
News News!
So my first two gigs this month have gone pretty well! I started playing with two awesome musicians: Alex Fank (Drums) and Joey Crisci (Bass). We've been rehearsing in my garage (hopefully not driving the neighbors mad). If you didn't get a chance to see the video that Alex posted on youtube of Lot 1 Cafe, here it is!
